Close on the heels of the announcement that Party Poker and Pacific Poker may be joining forces comes the announcement that Absolute Poker is going to acquire fellow online poker room and Phil Hellmuth backer Ultimate Bet. Little else is known- and even the "fact" that they are going to merge comes from an anonymous industry source- but it is thought that the two rooms will still exist separately.
Excapsa, Ultimate Bet's parent company, was sold to Blast Off Ltd. recently, so it makes sense that UB is also taking a simliar route by seeking to be acquired by Absolute Poker. The newly formed Absolute Ultimate Poker Bet (Ultimate Absolute? Bet Poker Absolutely Ultimate?) would manage a spot in the top four of online poker rooms without much struggle, but would still have a race on their hands to take the number one spot away from Pokerstars.
