T O M wins W S O P P O Y

James Cameron - 12 Jul 2007

It was a good time for Tom Schneider to go on a winning streak.

The 47 year old poker pro came into the 2007 WSOP with eleven cashes under his belt, and walks out with at least fourteen, plus a nifty new title; Player of the Year.

Putting aside for the moment that the WSOP is only six weeks long (Player of the Six Weeks doesn’t have the same ring to it), the WSOP POY has always been a sought after title. Tom picked it up by being the only player to win more than one bracelet this year in the open preliminary events.

Tom also made the final table of a third event, helping his overall point total. Transplanted Aussie Jeff Lisandro (who lives in Italy) nearly over took Tom but couldn’t muster up another 30 points, despite his six cashes this year.

Interestingly, none of Tom’s three cashes were in Hold’em events.
