There’s been speculation for months – since the Game Show Network (GSN) announced that it was not renewing its contract with the World Poker Tour to televise the poker tour’s seventh season. Late last week the announcement was finally made that WPTE (World Poker Tour Enterprises) would be joining forces with FSN (Fox Sports Net) to air 26, one-hour episodes of the World Poker Tour’s 7th season.
The series is currently being filmed and will be each episode will be aired in two hour-long segments instead of the current two-hour long contest that is seen currently. According to George Greenberg, FSN’s Executive Vice President of Programming and Production, “The World Poker Tour has a track record as the ultimate brand name in televised poker” and “FSN is very happy to televise such quality content.”
The schedule for Season VII has yet to be decided. Season VI continues to air on GSN and will do so until the end of 2008.
