A tasty guaranteed prize pool of $500,000 and $2,000 + $150 buy-in drove poker players from both coasts to Atlantic City to play in the Borgata’s Deep Stack Tournament. 956 players took part in the event including Ted Forrest, Anna “Poker Pixie” Wroblewski, 2005 WSOP Main Event runner-up Steve Dannenmann and many others, driving that guarantee up to $1,921,000.
Each player was given 30,000 chips and on their Day 1. Levels lasted 50 minutes. On Day 2, the levels were lengthened to 1 hour. The lucky and skillful ones who made it to Day 3 saw levels at 1 hour, 15 minutes.
A total of 90 players made bank in the tournament, earning at least $3,442. The final two players were Michael Crosby of Gainesville, GA and Anthony “Tony” Bellino from Yonkers, NY. Bellino, who previously cashed in the Borgata’s Summer Poker Open on June 9, 2008, earned more than $443,000 for the win.
