235 players took to the felt for the first event of the 2009 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour in Brighton last weekend. Each wanted the £70,520 first place prize. Navigating his way through a tough final table, which included former European Poker Tour champion, Andreas Hoivold, was Bernard Litman.
The 53 year old business owner, who resides in Benfleet (Essex), outlasted the Hoivold, the fourth place finisher. Hoivold was taken out by James Sudworth, who went on to face Litman in heads-up play.
Litman had the chip advantage going into heads-up play and, 30 minutes after the match-up began, he had the title.
