Chris Bruce hails from Nottingham. He’s really just a regular bloke… who happens to play poker for a living. However, he’s done the near impossible, taking two events in the same month at the popular casino, Dusk Till Dawn. Earlier in the month, Bruce won the monthly DTD 3 2 1 Main Event, which was good for £12,000. Now, he’s earned his biggest tournament payday of his career in the £750 buy-in Dusk Till Dawn Mini Festival tournament.
On July 18, 2008, Bruce won the event, which had 79 entries, some of these included Britain’s biggest names. Mickey Wernick, Paul Jackson and former WSOP finalist James Akenhead all sat down to play as the tournament director began the event. However, as the final table began, former Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) champion Marc Goodwin was perhaps the biggest name remaining. He was dispatched in fifth position.
Bruce moved on to heads-up play against tournament newcomer Shahnawaz Randera. Bruce prevailed and laid claim to the title and the £20,738.
Here are the final results:
1) Chris Bruce - £20,738
2) Shahnawaz Randera - £12,443
3) Andy Greakfish - £8,295
4) Richard Berridge - £5,333
5) Marc Goodwin - £4,148
6) Jon Omara - £2,963
7) Michael McCool - £2,370
8) Richard Stanley - £1,778
9) Neil Giblin - £1,185
