Wu Wins GBPT Edinburgh Event

Serena DaSilva - 5 Mar 2008

The Great British Poker Tour held its first event of the second season this weekend. The Main Event began with a 175 players. These were divided into two Day 1 events. Each player wanted a piece of the GBP 93,500 that was up for grabs. On Day 2, 41 players returned to the fray. 16 of these received some money for their efforts.

John Higgins, world snooker champion, proved that he’s also an able poker player. He took tenth place, narrowly missing the final table in this tournament. Colin Wu took a commanding chip lead after knocking out Richard Lapwood. Play continued for another few hours. However, as the late hour got even later the last three players agreed to a chop with GBP 20,500 going to each of them. Wu, who still retained the lead, collected the title and the VIP Grand Final package.

These are the results (in Pounds Sterling, of course):

1) Colin Wu  - 20,500
2) Robin Yiltalo - 20,500
3) Rory Mathews - 20,500
4) Philip Scott - 7,300
5) Richard Lapwood - 5,100
6) Jamie Coonan - 3,250
7) John Lynch - 2,800
8) Mark Greenwood - 2,300
9) Alistair Findlay - 1,850

The next event on the GBPT will be held at the Gala Regency Casino in Nottingham from April 16-20. You can qualify for all GBPT events at CoralPoker.com. Click here for details!
