WSOP 2008 Results - Event #20

Serena DaSilva - 15 Jun 2008

480 players took to the felt in the 20th event at the 2008 World Series of Poker. The Limit Hold'Em tournament had a buy-in of $2,000 and a total prize pool of $873,600. The biggest name, by far, at the final table was Daniel Negreanu. The Canadian-born player had three WSOP bracelets prior to entering this event, one of which was in this very same tournament (2004). Currently a resident of Las Vegas, Negreanu had 301,000 chips more than 100k less than the chip leader, a native Turkish player by the name of Ugur Marangoz.

Marangoz, who earned the 43rd slot in the 2006 LA Poker Classic NLHE Championship on the World Poker Tour, faced Kid Poker in heads-up play. Almost immediately Negreanu took a monster pot off his opponent, crippling him and paving the way for the final hand shortly thereafter.

Upon winning, Negreanu shook Marangoz's hand and walked over to the front row to kiss his mother.

These are the final results:

1) Daniel Negreanu - $204,863
2) Ugur Marangoz - $126,672
3) David Baker - $78,624
4) Richard Li - $63,336
5) Fu Wong - $51,542
6) Jeremy Kottler - $40,622
7) Greg Wohletz – $31,886
8) Derek Lerner- $25,334
9) Hien Tran - $18,782
