235 of the world’s best and brightest players entered the $10,000 World Championship Omaha Hi-Lo 8/b tournament. 27 of these players made bank in the event including Alexander Kostritsyn ($22,090 - 27th), Stuart Patterson ($33,135 – 15th), and Berry Johnston ($38,657 – 10th). The 1986 WSOP Main Event champ was the final table bubble boy.

As the action got underway, the French-born former tennis player David Benyamine had a nice chip lead with 1,200,000. Ram Vaswani of the Hendon Mob, who held the chip lead as the final eighteen took to the felt, was sitting in the short stack with less than 200k. However, Tony Ma was outflushed by Toto Leonidas. Ma, who has more than $4,000,000 in lifetime tournament earnings, added an additional $55,255 to his winnings.

David Chiu succumbed to Greg Jamison’s Broadway straight. Then, Ram Vaswani hit the rail, again at the hands of Greg Jamison, a resident of Cedar Falls, IA who rather likes Omaha 8/b. Apparently, Jamison, an amateur, enjoyed clashing with some of the biggest names in the game because he took a huge chunk out of Eugene Katchalov’s chip stack Katchalov won the Doyle Brunson North American Poker Classic. Soon after that hand, Katchalov lost his tournament life to Jason Gray. His sixth place finish netted him six figures.

At this point, Toto Leonidas, winner of a WSOP bracelet back in 2003 in Seven Card stud, silenced “The Mouth”, Mike Matusow. Unfortunately, Leonidas’ quest for a second bracelet ended in fourth place. Jason Gray, a recreational poker player from Portland, OR, took ‘The Lion’ to the rail and followed him shortly thereafter when Benyamine scooped the pot with trip jacks and no low. Gray earned nearly $210,000 for his efforts.

Heads-up play began with Benyamine in the lead with more than a 3-to-1 advantage over Greg Jamison. In true poker shark style, Benyamine, who Doyle Brunson often refers to as the best Omaha 8/b player in the world today, widened the chip gap between himself and his opponent, leaving little doubt as to who the winner would be. On the final hand, Benyamine hit pay dirt – a full hour, tens, full of jacks. Jamison was drawing dead on the river and Benyamine, a former tennis player who is engaged to fellow Full Tilt pro Erica Schoenberg, walked away with the ultimate validation, a World Series of Poker bracelet.

Here are the final results:

1) David Benyamine - $535,687
2) Greg Jamison - $331,350
3) Jason Gray – $209,855
4) Toto Leonidas - $171,197
5) Mike Matusow - $138,062
6) Eugene Katchalov - $110,450
7) Ram Vaswani - $88,360
8) David Chiu – $71,792
9) Tony Ma - $55,225
