EPT Dortmund starts Tuesday

Henrik Kjellberg - 9 Mar 2009

Nearly 150 PokerStars players have won seats for EPT Dortmund which takes place March 10-14. The €5,300 buy-in tournament in Germany regularly proves a massive draw for top poker players from around the world. Last year, more than 400 players took part creating a record prize pool of well over €3 million. Online phenom Canadian Mike "Timex" McDonald won the title and €933,600 first prize.

Among the stars who will be competing at Casino Hohensyburg this year are the entire PokerStars ShootingStar team including EPT Barcelona winner Sebastian Ruthenberg - now lying in second place on the EPT all-time Tournament Leader Board. Seven Team PokerStars Pros are competing in Dortmund as well - Noah Boeken, William Thorson, Marcin Horecki, Luca Pagano, Alex Kravchenko, Katja Thater, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and Dario Minieri as well as sponsored players Ivan Demidov and world champion Peter Eastgate. The winners of the last two EPTs - Moritz Kranich who won Deauville and Copenhagen victor Jens Kyllönen are also taking part.

Sebastian Ruthenberg, who won €1,361,000 in Barcelona in September, has been on top form this season - following up his Barcelona victory with a 9th place cash in Prague just before Christmas. He also cashed in the North American Poker Championship in Ontario in October.

Also competing in Dortmund will be the latest ShootingStar member Sandra Naujoks, as well as ShootingStar regulars Johannes Strassmann, Benjamin Kang, Jan Heitmann, George Danzer, Johannes Steindl and Anton Allemann. Sandra won €174,500 when she took down the €4,000 NLHE European Championship event in Baden last October.
