332 players paid the $5,000 buy-in to the fourth event at the 2008 World Series of Poker. The Mixed Hold’em (Limit/No Limit) competition featured a plethora of professional players, many of whom made some money in the tourney. Andy “The Monk” Black finished in 35th place, earning $10,922. Michael Craig, author of The Professor, The Banker and The Suicide King, finished in 26th position, one ahead of fellow Full Tilt friend, Finnish player Patrik Antonius. Both men received $12,483 for their efforts. Robert Williamson III and Andy Bloch, who got to heads-up play in the first event of the WSOP 2008, pocketed $15,604 for their 18th and 16th place finishes.

The final table was no less impressive with Isaac Haxton, David Williams, Howard Lederer, Roland de Wolfe, Justin Bonomo and Erick Lindgren still in the thick of the action. As the action got underway, Williams had the second biggest stack. The Bodog poker pro held 678,500 big ones. Isaac Haxton, who took second place at the 2007 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, was close to the felt with less than 120k in chips.

The long-haired youngster was the first elimination of the final table. Lasting only two hands at the ESPN televised final table, Haxton’s A,K was crushed by Lindgren’s pocket ladies. The online specialist received over $35,000 for his final table appearance.

David Williams, runner-up at the 2004 WSOP Main Event, saw his large stack dwindle during the first few hours of final table play. His elimination came at the hands of another David, aka David “Chino” Rheem. Despite Williams’ having an ace in the hole, Rheem ousted the fan favorite with a pair of tens on the flop.

Shortly thereafter, the Professor, aka Howard Lederer, was dismissed from this poker master class. Justin Bonomo, another young gun representing Bodog Poker, did the honors with a pair of kings on the turn. Roland De Wolfe then ousted David Rheem from the competition in fifth position, but yielded little from that elimination as Bonomo, now with a massive chip lead, caught a spade flush on the river. De Wolfe, a former WPT Aviation Club de Paris champion, would have to content himself with a fourth place finish and $117,030 in cash.

Bonomo rode his chip lead all the way to heads-up play against Erick Lindgren.
Lindgren, who had just about every honor on his poker resume but a WSOP bracelet, fought valiantly, conquering the young gun in 40 hands of expert heads-up play. On the final hand, he earned a wheel (A,2,3,4,5 straight) and took possession of his first piece of WSOP bling-bling.

Here are the final results:

1) Erick Lindgren - $374,505
2) Justin Bonomo - $230,159
3) Andrew Robl - $144,337
4) Roland De Wolfe - $117,030
5) David Rheem - $93,624
6) Howard Lederer - $74,119
7) David Williams - $58,515
8) Pat Pezzin - $46,812
9) Isaac Haxton - $35,109
