European Poker Tour – Dortmund Day 1A

Deanna Goodson - 11 Mar 2009

306 players turned out for Day 1A at the EPT Dortmund. Among the throng were Arnaud Mattern, Joao Barbosa and Soren Kongsgaard. Christian Grundtvig, Benjaming Kang and Ivan Demidov didn’t last into Day 2.

Neither did Stig Top Rasmussen. Rasmussen, who took out Grundtvig decisively, hit the rail in a hail of controversy. He pushed all-in on the river with a board of Q,7,2,2,8. His opponent thought for a bit which caused Rasmussen to ask for the clock. However, the dealer never called a tournament director over.

His opponent eventually called and won with a Q,J. However, Rasmussen declared that his opponent’s hand should’ve been dead as he didn’t call in a reasonable amount of time. TD Thomas Kremser decided that the hand should stand and Rasmussen hit the rail, none too pleased with the situation.

Here’s how the chip lead looked at the end of the night:

1) William Thorson (Sweden) - 84,500
2) Robert Zipf (Germany) - 72,300
3) Jan Collado-Fernandez (Germany) - 71,100
4) Martin Bjerring Hansen (Denmark) - 70,500
