The final table of the World Poker Tour Celebrity Invitational had just six players, down from several hundred. One celebrity, Nick Gonzalez, remained. He joined pros such as Scott Clements and Freddy Deeb as the action got underway at 4pm local time on Monday, March 2, 2009.
Gonzalez, best known for his role on Resurrection Blvd, drew first blood, taking out JJ Tavares in sixth place. Deeb and Gonzalez then took chunks out of Clements’ big stack, leading to his demise in fourth place.
The stage was basically set for the actor and the poker pro to face each other heads-up, which they did. Deeb proved that experience can overcome much by taking out Gonzalez in second place and winning his second World Poker Tour title.
