As with last year, each of the 10 tournaments during the season will be a £1,000 buy-in, except for the Grand Final, which is £3,000. The events usually draw some of the best poker players from across the UK.
Winners in 2007 included such notable names as WSOP bracelet winner Praz Bansi, former EastEnders actor Michael Greco, EPT champion Julian Thew and the always-dangerous Dave Colclough. At the end of 2007, Michael Ellis was able to take the Grand Final when he overcame a difficult 197-player field to win the championship.
Preliminary events are scheduled during the run of stops on the GUKPT tour this year, and there will be satellites available for players to earn their way into the championship events.
Two special events, which were not a part of the 2007 schedule, will also be featured: a Link Event and the Grosvenor Grand Prix.
