The second year of the Blue Square poker sponsored Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) gets underway next Monday in Brighton.
The GUKPT is the UK’s largest poker tour, consisting of ten major poker festivals taking place at Grosvenor and G Casinos across the country. There are nine legs and a grand final scheduled for 2008. The 4 day main events at each of the nine legs of the tour will be £1,060 NL Hold’em freezeouts, while at the grand final the stakes are raised to £3,000. Last year’s Grand Final winner was Londoner Michael Ellis, who walked away with just over £200,000.
Tour sponsor Blue Square Poker is adding £200,000 to the tour, including a £75,000 Champion of Champions tournament and £30,000 in prize money for the Leaderboard (rankings). The Champion of Champions Tournament is a new event for 2008 which will take place in December. Players who win any GUKPT event (main event or side event) will qualify for this prestigious tournament. The Leaderboard is also going to be more competitive this year with ranking points awarded to players who make the final table of all events (main events and side events).
