The 2nd Leg of the 2008 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour gets underway at the Grosvenor Casino in Walsall next week, starting with a £200 NL Hold’em freezeout on Monday 11th February.
It is followed by a £300 Double Chance NL Hold’em freezeout on Tuesday and a £250 PL Omaha freezeout on Wednesday. Side events at Walsall festivals are usually well attended and with the added attraction of a seat in the Champion of Champions tournament to the winner of all events, high turnouts are expected.
The main event gets underway on Thursday 14th, with two starting days and a further two days to complete the tournament. Last year online qualifier Jerome Bradpiece defeated a sell out field of 360 players to take down a first prize of £120,000. He also scooped several thousand more by placing a bet on himself to win the tournament and in fact turned down a deal on the final table, just in case it could have affected him being paid out his winnings. The capacity has been increased to 400 this year and alternates are accepted during the first two levels of play on both starting days.
There are still three online satellites for the main event taking place onBlue Square Poker. These start at 9.15pm today (Wednesday), Friday and Sunday. Several live satellites at the casino in Walsall are also taking place with £200 added to the prize pool of each by tour sponsor Blue Square Poker. Three of these take place during the festival week, at 2pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, but call the casino for details of further satellites.
