TULSA, Okla. – Cherokee Casino Resort wrapped its first Mid-South Poker Classic earlier this week. The tournament featured 20 events over 12 days with buy-ins ranging from $100 - $1,000.
Overall, the new jewel of mid-South poker tournaments attracted more than 3,000 entries and featured a total prize pool topping $700,000.
The tournament ended with a 2-day No Limit Hold ‘em Championship event that attracted 150 players, with a $1,000+$80 buy-in, generating a $145,500 prize pool. After two days of tough competition, small-town Oklahoma resident, Harold Hailey, reigned victorious. Hailey beat out players from across the region, including Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Texas and Nebraska – and Cherokee Casino Resort’s own resident poker king from Las Vegas, Scotty Nguyen.
