JC Tran, in his first appearance at the Party Poker Premiere League, has risen to the top of the heap. The talented tournament player, who plays under PKR.com’s banner and is representing the Asian Poker Tour worldwide as an ambassador for the series, beat out a star-studded field of invitees including current World Series of Poker Main Event champion, Peter Eastgate en route to the title.
Eastgate entered the final table of the event second in chips to Tran, who won three of his preliminary heats in the match. After the Dane’s early departure, Tony G went to work and held the lead heads-up against Tran. However, the World Series of Poker (and WPT) champion held tough against the former Betfair Asian Poker Tour winner.
Tony G went out in second place and humbly said upon losing, “I brought my best game, but it wasn’t good enough.” Tran, for his part, was thrilled with the results, saying that ‘although he had never played in Europe before’, “Perhaps I should move here.”
Final standings:
1) J.C. Tran - $300,000
2) Tony G - $150,000
3) Juha Helppi - $80,000
4) Tom Dwan - $50,000
5) Roland De Wolfe - $40,000
6) Peter Eastgate - $30,000
