The young gun won his first (of two) events at the inaugural EPT San Remo in Italy last year. He took down nearly €900,000 in his first live cash.
This Saturday, Mercier will return to his old stomping grounds to defend his title. The American called his experience last year “pretty surreal” and he is “really looking forward to going back and trying to do it all again.”
A few months after the EPT San Remo, the now-confident poker player made a final table in Barcelona. Then, he won the EPT £1 Million Showdown.
