A total of 64 players took part in the $5,300 Aussie Millions heads-up championship. On Day 1a, Chino Rheem, Sorrel Mizzi and Neil Channing were among the luminaries to hit the rail. Alec Torelli and Jarred Solomon were the only two remaining as the action ended.
On Day 1b, another 32 players hit the felt for the heads-up competition. Former NBC Heads-Up Champion Chris “Jesus” Ferguson busted out early as did Nam Le and Aussie Millions Main Champ from 2008 Alexander Kostritsyn. John Tabatabai and David Gent were the last men standing.
Torelli, Solomon, Tabatabai and Gent headed into Day 2. Tabatabai made quick work of David Gent and waited for the winner of the Torelli/Solomon match-up. Alec “traheho” Torelli defeated Solomon in straight sets to advance as well. Solomon and Gent earned $40,000 for their efforts with Traheho and former WSOPE Main Event runner-up Tabatabai looking for the $100,000 first prize.
Torelli, an internet wunderkind, couldn’t beat Tabatabai for the title. In the end, he collected a cool $60,000 AUD as the runner-up while the Brit, who is also an All Africa Poker champion, received the $100k and the title.
