Little Takes Second WPT Title at Foxwoods

Deanna Goodson - 12 Nov 2008

He’s only 23, but Pensacola native Jonathan Little has his second World Poker Tour. The winner of the WPT’s sixth season Mirage Poker Showdown came to the final table of the 2008 Foxwoods World Poker Finals in Mashantucket, CT with a little over 2 million chips. He was in third place and had about half the chips of the chip leader, Jonathan Jaffe of Longmeadow, MA.

Also sitting at the final table were David “The Dragon” Pham, one of the hottest players on the professional circuit with seven World Poker Tour final tables and two WSOP bracelets, and Mike “The Mouth” Matusow, fresh off his WSOP bracelet win this summer. Matusow hit the rail in sixth place and Pham, whose cousin is Men “The Master” Nguyen, added $240,344 to his nearly $8 million in lifetime tournament earnings for fourth place.

After Chris Marchese was eliminated by Jonathan Little in third place, an epic heads-up match began. More than 170 hands were played between Jaffe and FieryJustice before the final hand was played. Little emerged victorious, winning the match and the million plus, along with the WPT title.

Here are the final results:

1) Jonathan Little - $1,120,310
2) Jonathan Jaffe - $670,636
3) Charles Marchese - $337,256
4) David Pham - $240,344
5) Jack Schanbacher - $182,196
6) Mike Matusow - $124,048
