The $10,200 buy-in HORSE event at the 2009 Aussie Millions brought the crème de la crème of the poker crop to the table. Sitting down to play were Tony G, Jason Gray and Jeff Lisandro, among others. The final table was truly a star-studded affair with Chris “Jesus” Ferguson taking the chip lead in, but barely.
Also sitting at that table were fellow former WSOP Main Event champ Joe Hachem, Jeff Madsen, Michael Binger, Lee Nelson and last year’s Aussie Millions Main Event winner, Alexander Kostritsyn.
Kostritsyn’s chips were at the middle of the pack going into the final table. He busted out Joe Hachem, Zac Fellows and Jeff Madsen, riding the wave to heads-up play against Ferguson.
The Russian held a nearly 3 to 1 chip lead as heads-up play began. Two difficult hours later, he raked in the last pot, collecting AUD $95,000 for the win.
