Celebrity poker tournament director will be doing his thing at this year’s Los Angeles Poker Classic, which got underway yesterday. This year’s events include 34 tournaments!
The cards hit the air yesterday at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, California, as the 2009 Los Angeles Poker Classic started the first of 33 preliminary events, all leading to the big World Poker Tour $10,000 main event on February 21.
Matt Savage is the TD this year, during which he will oversee such new additions to the tourney series as a $5k Omaha rebuy, a $10k HORSE and a $10k Heads Up.
Many of the evens have six- figure guaranteed prize pools, and of course the main event, as a WPT stop, will likely have a first place prized of a million dollars or more.
The events will run from now through February 26th, and a very special event, the WPT Celebrity Invitational, will be two days later, from February 28 to March 2.
The Celebrity Invitational is always a fun event, but if you don’t rate an invite, don’t worry – you can still play in all the other events, and the big WPT main event in particular is going to change someone’s life with the prize money. If the buy in is too steep for you (and it probably is at ten grand) there are ways to qualify for a free seat, such as via Full Tilt Poker’s online qualifiers.
