Season 2 of the PokerStars.net Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) finished its six month tour as the richest poker tournament for players to enter in Latin America.
A massive 1,053 players from around the world took to the felt to claim a piece of the USD $4,045,350 prize pool that LAPT San José, Viña del Mar, Punta del Este and Mar del Plata events made in total.
Players who made it to the final table and won all earned over $140,000 and came from a diverse range of backgrounds and ages.
The field created a multicultural and high-energy tournament experience with players hailing from over 50 different nations.
In November, Ryan Fee beat a field of 219 to earn himself a payday of USD$285,773. In January, it was the turn of Fabian Ortiz to become the first Latin American player to win an LAPT event, after he took down LAPT Vina del Mar for USD$141,426. Karl Hevroy from Norway won USD$283,580 at Punta del Este and after a speedy four hours of final table play at LAPT Mar del Plata 18-year-old Dominik Nitsche from Germany became the youngest player to win an LAPT event and took home USD$381,030.
The LAPT has generated unrivalled interest in poker throughout Latin America.
