TULSA, Okla. – More proof that the hottest poker room in middle America for serious poker tournaments and live play is at Cherokee Casino Resort, Tulsa, Okla. The resort adds yet another major poker tournament to its schedule. The Mid-South Poker Classic, running May 15 – May 26, is the second of three major tournaments at Cherokee Casino Resort this year and features 20 events over 12 days. The tournament also features the Budweiser Celebrity Poker Classic, where sports celebrities and poker professionals will play to benefit Tulsa Sports Charities, a local charity.

Cherokee Casino Resort’s poker room has gained a solid reputation among poker players over the last five years, due in part to the casino’s resident poker professional, the legendary Scotty Nguyen. As usual, Nguyen will be sitting in on the Mid-South Poker Classic, challenging players with his well-honed skills and classic Nguyen antics. As he would say, “That’s poker, baby!”

“We have been able to attract tremendous draws and substantial prize pools for our major poker tournaments. Oklahoma is definitely a hotbed of poker action right now, and we have been the destination of choice for players. We are a convenient, easy-access location for the mid- and southern U.S. regions, and the prize pools make it worth your while,” said David Stewart, CEO of Cherokee Nation Enterprises, which operates Cherokee Casinos.

The poker room has also rightfully earned its stellar reputation from its spacious, comfortable poker room and its top-notch guest service. Ask anyone that has played at Cherokee Casino Resort and they can attest to the courteous poker room staff, great dining options, nicely appointed yet affordable rooms and the many resort amenities. In fact, for those players willing to leave the fluorescent glow of the poker room, there is a championship 18-hole golf course right on property and ready for action.

The Mid-South Poker Classic begins Thursday, May 15, and lasts until Memorial Day Monday, May 26. The daily tournaments include Jack & Jill, No Limit Hold ‘em, Limit Hold ‘em, Omaha Hi/Lo Split, No Limit Hold ‘em Tulsa Sports Charity Bounty, a Senior and Ladies No Limit Hold ‘em, No Limit Hold ‘em 6-Handed and Pot Limit Omaha. Buy-ins range from $100 - $1,000.
