TULSA, Okla. - The Oklahoma State Championship of Poker returns to Cherokee Casino Resort Feb. 5 – 16 offering even more events – 25 events compared to last year’s 15 - and 13 state championship titles. The tournament is one of Cherokee Casino’s largest poker events, attracting players from all over the Midwest region including Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas and Texas.
“It’s definitely a bigger playing field for the Oklahoma State Championship of Poker at Cherokee Casino Resort. And this year, we are offering our players nearly twice the number of events as last year and even more state titles,” said David Stewart, CEO of Cherokee Nation Enterprises, which operates Cherokee Casinos.
The 2008 Oklahoma State Championship of Poker tournament drew hundreds of players for each event, most notably, more than 750 players for the $340 No Limit Hold ‘em State Championship. The winner, James Beetz, took home more than $64,000. Local player Fred Roll won the Oklahoma State Championship title and more than $113,000.
The Oklahoma State Championship Event begins at 12 p.m. on Feb. 15 and continues play at 2 p.m. Feb. 16. Buy-in for this event is $3,150.
