Ivey Steamrolls Competition at FTP’s Million Dollar Cash Game

Deanna Goodson - 30 Sep 2008

Phil Ivey is one cool customer. The dominant and stone-faced poker player decimated the competition at the Full Tilt Poker Million Dollar Cash Game. This is his second win in the event since it began in 2006. En route to winning more than $500,000, Ivey defeated players such as Gus Hansen, Phil Hellmuth, Mike Matusow, Andy Bloch, Tom “durrr” Dwan, El Elezra and more.

Last year Tony G took down this event and claimed more than $200,000 in the event. However, the feat was overshadowed by Ivey and fellow Full Tilt Poker pro, Patrik Antonius. The duo battled over an $800,000 plus pot, the biggest ever on TV. This year’s event will also be televised on Sky Sports in January.

Ivey wasn’t the only one to walk away with some cash from the Million Dollar Cash Game. Apparently, Matusow and John Juanda made some moolah in the ring game. “The Mouth” earned $131,000 and Juanda received $69,000 while Antonius and Hellmuth reportedly lost six figures each.

In addition, Adam Noone, a participant in the Full Tilt Poker Million Pound Challenge took home £200,000 in a series of heads-up matches against Phil Ivey, Chris Ferguson and Roland de Wolfe. Apparently, he took out both Ivey and Ferguson, but came up short against ‘The Wolf.’
