In their continued effort to cover the globe with regional poker tours, online poker room Poker Stars has announced the start of the inaugural Australia New Zealand Poker Tour.
The Aussie Millions is always a big draw for poker players to make the trip Down Under, and locals from Australia and New Zealand get a chance to compete in a major poker tournament in their neck of the woods, but it only comes once a year. Now, thanks to Poker Stars, there will be a lot more opportunity for locals and more reasons to visit the Southern Hemisphere.
The Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) will begin in February in Adelaid (on the 4th) and continue on through the major casinos in New Zealand and Australia. The poker tour is based on a point system, with points awarded for playing and for how an individual player finishes, and the points get tallied up at the end of the season in July.
Adelaide's Sky City Casino, dubbed the Home of Australian Poker thanks the introduction of Hold’em back in 1987, will be the birthplace of the ANZPT as well.
