Poker Stars is sending 200 qualifiers to the EPT San Remo in Italy later this month.

More than 200 players have qualified for the European Poker Tour (EPT) San Remo on Poker Stars. This is a new record. The previous record was 150 for last month’s EPT Dortmund.

The event, which takes place from April 18 – 23 at the Casino San Remo, happens before the EPT Grand Finale in Monte Carlo. This event was held for the first time. 701 players entered the tournament, the premiere of an EPT event in Italy. Jason Mercier won the event, taking down €869,000 as the first place prize winner.

This year, the €5,000 buy-in event is expected to reach the 800 player cap. Players already signed up for the event include reigning World Champion Peter Eastgate and pros such as Lee Nelson, Dario Minieri, Luca Pagano and Ivan Demidov.

Summary: The EPT San Remo is expected to reach its 800 player maximum with the help of event sponsor Poker Stars which is sending 200 players to the tournament via online qualifiers.
