PokerStars EPT Deauville claimed by Moritz Kranich

The first French EPT event in three years is over and done, won by German Poker Stars qualifier Moritz Kranich. We aren’t sure whether to say “herzlichen Gluckwunsch!” or “felicitations!”

Moritz Kranich made his way to the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Deauville on the strength of a qualifier from PokerStars and fought his way through a field of 644 players to emerge victorious. His prize was a check for €851,400, far outstripping his previous best of $77k. This was accomplished by a third place finish in the $1,050 World Championship of Online Poker Second Chance event.

In his heads up match with Arnaud Esquevin it was a game of “No Hold’em Fold’em” as each player alternated declaring they were all in with folding when their opponent did the same. In the end Kranich called holding better fair, an Ace Seven over Esquevin’s Ace Trey. The kicker held up and Esquevin was out in second with €495,400.

The next European Poker Tour event will run in Copenhagen on February 17th.

Feel like you might want in on some of this “qualify for an event and then rake in six figures” action? You’ll have to sign up with PokerStars (and you can do that here) in order to do so. As the sponsors of the European Poker Tour, they are the best spot online to find qualifiers to the EPT live events.
