Hevad Khan first came to worldwide attention as a successful online poker player. He catapulted to land tournament stardom after making the final table of the World Series of Poker Main Event in 2007. He finished sixth in that event, earning nearly $1,000,000. Since then, Khan has been a fixture of Team Poker Stars, representing the online poker room at multiple events – and doing well at them. He’s cashed on the World Poker Tour, the Asia Pacific Poker Tour and the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. Khan, who is still under 25, nearly made the final table at the World Series of Poker Circuit Championship at Atlantic City last month to boot.
Obviously the man can play a mean game of poker.
Khan has just added a title to his already impressive poker resume. He took the title at Event 8 at the 2008 WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic. The event, a $2,000 buy-in NLHE competition, was certainly no cake-walk for the talented rounder. Heads-up he faced another young gun with mad skills – Michael Binger. Binger, who’s earned over $5,000,000 in his poker career thus far as a part-time player, finished third in the Main Event at the WSOP in 2006 and netted $4,000,000 for that effort.
In the end, these two titans of the game tussled and Khan came out the victor.
Here are the final results:
1) Hevad Khan - $108,187
2) Michael Binger - $60,296
3) Eugene Castro - $31,008
4) Kenneth Adams - $24,119
5) David Hickman - $17,227
6) Serafim Zaharopoulos - $13,782
7) Mike Sica - $12,059
8) Alex Muscarella - $10,336
9) Vinny Pahuja - $8,619
