Vivek “Psyduck” Rajkumar got his start online. At just 22 years old, the talented poker prodigy has won a World Poker Tour title (Borgata). Now he can add the $10,000 LA Poker Classic heads-up title to his ever-growing CV.
Rajkumar was one of 111 players in the inaugural heads-up event at the 2009 LAPC, joining some illustrious company such as JC Tran, John Phan and Barry Greenstein. However, he outlasted them all and made it to Day Two of play, along with 11 others.
The double-elimination event, which allowed a player to lose once and still proceed, was helpful for Rajkumar. After losing a match, he went 10-1 to meet his opponent Chris Moore, the 2008 Wynn Classic champion, in the final heads-up match-up.
At the end of the match, Rajkumar was “exhausted” as he’d been playing poker for more than 17 hours straight, “But the fact that I won the very first LA Poker Classic $10,000 Heads-Up Championship is great. I learned a lot all week about Heads-Up play, and talked with several other pros throughout the event that helped improve my game. This victory fills me with a lot of confidence going into the LAPC No Limit Hold’em Championship.”
Here are the results for the final four players:
1. Vivek Rajkumar - $350,000
2. Chris Moore - $190,000
3. James Mackey - $100,000
4. David Oppenheim - $75,000
