WSOPC Tunica – Results from Events 1 - 5

The World Series of Poker Circuit pulled into the Grand Casino Tunica on January 3, 2008. The championship event begins on January 19th. However, there’s been plenty of action thus far, and we’ve got the results of the first ten events here for you.

Event #1 had a buy-in of $300. The name of the game was No-Limit Hold’em. 781 people paid to play in the event, driving up the prize pool to an impressive $223,366. 72 people made bank. Howard Reid took down the tournament and $58,500.

28 players earned some moolah in the third event at the Grand Casino, which was held on Saturday January 5, 2008. A total of 277 people entered the NLHE tournament with the $700 buy-in. Kerry Rowden was the champ, earning about one-eighth of the overall prize pool of $186,698.

The Ladies NLHE championship was Event 4 at Tunica. Held in conjunction with the High Heels Poker Tour (HHPT), 287 women shuffled up and dealt with the drama on the felt. After all was said and done, Jennifer Golin won the event, $17,000 plus and became ‘poker queen of the Mississippi’ for the next year.

Event 5 was an Omaha Hi-Low extravaganza with 207 players. The buy-in was $500 and the total prize pool was $99,360. 27 folks made bank in the tournament including Russ “Dutch” Boyd and the event’s winner, Chris Reslock. Reslock is a fixture on the tournament circuit. Last year, he won Event #11 at the World Series of Poker. The World Championship of Seven Card stud yielded him a bracelet and more than $258,000.
