Although the World Poker Tour just completed its seventh season championship, the WPT continued this past week with its first-ever Italian stop. The WPT Venice had a buy in of €4,400 and was held at the Casino di Venezia.
397 players took to the felt, and the final two hailed from Sweden. Sven Ragnar Astrom defeated Per Martin Jacobson out on the last hand and laid claim to the top prize of €397,960. Jacobson, for his part, collected €238,840.
The only North American to reach the final table was Michael “Timex” McDonald. The Canadian player took fourth place and was the top finisher among pros such as Dario Minieri, Chad Brown and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier.
