Doyle Brunson Heads to Ireland

Serena DaSilva - 12 Mar 2008

On March 20, 2008 the Irish Poker Open gets underway. Sponsored by PaddyPowerPoker, the tournament is Ireland’s biggest. This year €3 million is guaranteed to be up for grabs in the series. That kind of cash is hard for anyone…even poker icon Doyle “Texas Dolly” Brunson to pass up.

He’s en route to the Irish capital to partake of the tasty tournament offerings in the Emerald Isle. Last year, Marty Smyth, a local bloke, took the top prize. He defeated Englishman Roland De Wolfe en route to the title. Smyth collected €650,000 for his efforts.
This year’s winner is expected to claim at least that. A plethora of pros are hoping to make poker news by winning the event. Dave “El Blondie” Colclough, John Duthie, Padraig Parkinson and Noel Furlong are among those looking to beat Brunson on the felt at the Citywest Hotel next week.
