Charlie Sewell, of Edmond, OK, was the champion in the $200+30 No Limit Hold’em contest Monday, November 12, during the “Scotty Nguyen Poker Challenge IV” at the Cherokee Casino. Charlie collected $10,711 for 1st Place in the 198 person field.
“This was my second final table in two days,” Charlie explained. “I placed second two days ago in the $500 + $50 No Limit event. It has been a great run!” Charlie has been collecting Card Player points and has a goal of winning three more tournaments.
So far, Charlie has made over $28,755 in winnings and has big plans for the Championship Event. “If I stay on my game, I have confidence I will make it to that final table too!”

Lance earned $7,864 for 1st Place in the 273-player field. Eric Crain, who finished 3rd at the $300+$30 No-Limit Hold’em event on Friday, November 9 and won the $330 short-handed NLHE tourney on November 7th, also made bank in this tournament.

John Hillman, of Okmulgee, OK, was the conqueror in the $300+30 No Limit Hold’em contest Tuesday, November 13, during the “Scotty Nguyen Poker Challenge IV” at the Cherokee Casino. John scored $15,716 for 1st Place in the 182-person field.
John had to beat out some tough competition on his way to the top. Married couple, Dina and David Rylander both made the final table and put up a fight for first along with Johnnie “Blaze” Short, who took down the Seniors tournament on November 5.
“This was fun. I didn’t expect to lose but I’m not sure I expected to win.” John prevailed and was pleased to take his trophy, Card Player Cruise, and winnings home for a good night’s rest.

Ben Lamb, of Tulsa, OK, defeated all in the $300+30 No Limit Hold’em contest Wednesday, November 13, during the “Scotty Nguyen Poker Challenge IV” at the Cherokee Casino. Ben walked away with $47,956 for 1st Place in the 154-player field.
Professional poker player, Brandon Cantu went heads up with Ben in an aggressive battle. On the final hand Ben moved all-in with K/7. Brandon called with A/Q. Ben hit a king on the turn to win the game.
“Did you buy me that lottery ticket?” a player asked Ben early in the game. Perhaps he kept it to himself.

Kenneth Blanton, of Caddo Mills, TX, took down the $500+50 Pot Limit Omaha with re-buys tournament Thursday, November 15, during the “Scotty Nguyen Poker Challenge IV” at the Cherokee Casino. Kenneth won $36,146 for 1st Place in the 64-player field. There were 60 re-buys.
The fast action game eliminated four players in just six hands. In the meantime, player Keith Lehr was bouncing from the final table to the $2,080 buy-in tournament on the other side of the room. The game slowed and after many tossed hands, the remaining players decided to take a break to talk business.
After returning to the table, the players came up with a deal. Kenneth Blanton, Keith Lehr and Michael Martin split the money even ways. Kenneth had chip lead and was deemed first place, Keith Lehr came in second, and Michael Martin took third.

Jay Hunter, of Tulsa, OK, scored a big win in the $2,000+80 No Limit hold ‘em tournament Friday, November 16, during the “Scotty Nguyen Poker Challenge IV” at the Cherokee Casino. He made $87,179 for 1st Place in the 115-player field.
The star-studded field drew crowds from beginning to end. Railbirds watched as Jay surpassed 2007 WSOP Champion, Jerry Yang, Barry Johnston, Tom “Captain” Franklin, Keith Lehr and Scotty Nguyen.
Jay shook his head in awe, and walked over to his family in a daze. He never really said much other than, “I won!”
