Tony G Wins First-Ever Moscow Millions

Serena DaSilva - 3 Dec 2007
Antanas Guoga, aka Tony G, is usually known for his bad boy image and trash-talk at the tables. However, the native Lithuanian who moved to Australia at the age of 11 is getting a reputation for his softer side. About 13 months ago, Tony G won the inaugural Betfair Asian Poker Tour in Singapore and donated half of his prize money to charities in Australia and Asia.

Tony, who arrived late on Day One of the Moscow Millions, held at the Kosmos Casino & Hotel due to a dental issue, admits that he “had luck”. Several times he was on the ropes in the tournament but pulled it out and is proud to be the Russian champ. He was one of 53 players who paid the $10,500 to play in the event, which was sponsored by Poker Professionals.

He donated his entire first place prize to a Moscow Orphanage saying on his blog at Pokerworks that “my donations are not that big but I think it can help a little and it also paints poker in a good light…that is what I am hoping for. Obviously, I also want to get publicity for doing so. I feel good just being in a position where I can give away money that I win in poker tourneys.”

These are the results:

1) Tony Guoga AKA "G" (Melbourne, Australia) - $205,000
2) Kiril Boydachenko (Russian Federation) - $102,500
3) Alex Kravchenko (Moscow, Russian Federation) - $77,000
