Vadim Trincher takes the title and $731,079 for his win at the 2009 Foxwoods Poker Classic.
The final table of the 2009 World Poker Tour Foxwoods Poker Classic began at 4pm ET on Wednesday (April 8th). Due to a double elimination on the bubble, just five players began the day. Vadim Trincher was the chip leader with 2.813 million, nearly 100k more than his closest competitor Amnon Filippi.
Filippi, a talented poker professional, was looking for his first World Poker Tour title. He came on strong, eliminating three of his four opponents at the table. He went into heads-up play with a slight advantage over Trincher.
However, Trincher would take the big lead in the match when he made a pair of kings to take a pot that was worth nearly 3 million chips. After that Trincher applied a great deal of pressure to chip away at the rest of Filippi’s stack.
Trincher emerged victorious in the end, taking down the title and the $731,079 first place prize. Filippi earned $409,405 for his efforts.
These are the final results:
1) Vadim Trincher - $731,079
2) Amnon Filippi - $409,405
3) Lenny Cortellino - $214,449
4) Matt Casterella - $138,905
5) Alex Perelberg - $106,007
