Wrangling up Some HORSE at the World Series of Poker Academy

Ling Ma - 23 Jul 2007

HORSE is a mixed poker game combining five different flavors of the game (Texas and Omaha Holdem, Stud Hi,  Hi-Low and Razz). Many feel that the $50,000 HORSE tournament should be the Main Event at the World Series of Poker. Although the folks behind the WSOP don't plan on changing the name of the game for the Main Event...yes, it's still No-Limit Hold'em, they have shown that they do value HORSE.

From November 2-4, 2007 at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas (one of the Harrah's properties), the WSOP Academy will hold the first ever HORSE camp.

Five of the best in the game will help you hone your skills in each of these games. The Professor, Howard Lederer, will teach you Limit Hold'em. Annie Duke, Howard's little sis and winner of a bracelet in the 2004 Omaha Hi/Lo tourney at the WSOP, will show you that game. Greg Raymer is the stud eight or better instructor. Andy Bloch and Mark Seif will demonstrate the ins and outs of Seven Card Stud and Razz respectively.

Also featured at the HORSE camp are seminars on advanced No-Limit Hold'em Strategy and former FBI man Joe Navarro's illuminating insights into non-verbal communication.

At the end of the second day, private tourneys featuring the games discussed during the day will be held. The top four finishers will each win a seat to the 2008 WSOP $2,500 event. On the final day, a HORSE tournament will occur. The winner of that will get an entry to the $10,000 WSOP Main Event in 2008.

The WSOP Academy HORSE camp will run you about $2200. For more information including registration, check out http://www.wsopacademy.com/horse.html.
