WSOP Main Event Winners By Year and Winnings

Deanna Goodson - 25 Mar 2009

The World Series of Poker Main Event began in 1970 and was an invitational tournament with just one table’s worth of players. 38 years later, the event is a freezeout. Anyone who can pay their way in either with cold, hard cash or by winning a satellite live or online can play…and thousands do.

The popularity of poker has turned the WSOP Main Event into one of the richest events in sports with the winner receiving a multi-million dollar payday and sponsorship deals that could well exceed that.
