The World Series of Poker, which began in 1970 at Binion's in Las Vegas, is the world's biggest and longest-running tournament series. Winning a WSOP bracelet is nearly every poker player's dream. Former Main Event champions have included Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Chris Moneymaker, and last year's champ, Jerry Yang.
The World Series of Poker 2008 began on May 30th and will extend until July 14, 2008 when the final table of the Main Event is set. For the first time in World Series history, the WSOP
Main Event's final table will be delayed more than 100 days until November 9th. A total of 54 events will be played at this year's World Series of Poker including several $10,000 buy-in World Championship events in No-Limit Hold'em, Pot Limit Omaha, Seven Card Stud and more.
