World Poker Dealer Championships

James Cameron - 20 Sep 2006

How many pro poker players started their careers out as poker dealers? Thirty Two. (Okay, I made that number up...but there are a lot.) Scott Fishchamn, Mike Matusow (could you imagine having The Mouth as a dealer?) not to mention Layne Flack and everyone's favorite orange-loving WSOP champion, Johnny Chan. For all you poker dealers ready to turn pro (or who just want to have some big time poker fun) get ready for the first-ever World Poker Dealer Championships. While it seems like every new poker tournament is labeled "World" this or that, at least this one is being put on by Binion's, the folks that created the WSOP in the first place.

The gig takes place September 24th - 28th, and will be a series of $1,000 buy-in events, with Limit Hold'Em, No-Limit Hold'Em, Omaha Hi/Lo and 7-Card Stud. This is a dealer only event- no casino valet attendants or cigarette girls need apply. Interested? Give Jim Delorto, Binion's Director of Poker Operations, a ring at (800) 937-6537 or email jdelorto@binions.com.
