Event #22 of the 2008 WCOOP was a six-handed mixed Omaha hi-lo tournament, which alternated between limit and pot-limit betting. 620 entrants came to play, bringing the total prize pool up to $310,000. Amongst the throng were PokerStars pros such as Andre Akkari, Bill Chen, Humberto Brenes and Steve-Paul Ambrose. Also joining in on the action was 2007 WSOPE Main Event champ Annette Obrestad, obviously getting in some last minute practice before that tournament series begins later this week.
Boosted J was the bubble boy, taking 91st place. Other notable eliminations included Chris “Money800” Moneymaker in 58th position and Dario Minieri in 45th place. However, it was Victor Ramdin who made the strongest showing amongst the Poker Stars Pros. The former WPT Foxwoods champion nearly made the final table, taking the 14th slot and $2,790.
The final six sat down to play around 5.30 AM ET and BUCKIZ6 had a solid chip lead. As level 49 began, he had more than 45% of the chips in play and carried that lead all the way to heads-up play against jamie2000. jamie2000 put up a good fight, lasting more than a third of an hour against the aggressive BUCKIZ6. However, the conclusion was never really in doubt and BUCKIZ6 took down the last pot, the title and the full first prize (no deal was made) of $55,800.
These are the results:
1) BUCKIZ6 - $55,800
2) jamie2000 — $41,850
3) PieOhMy — $31,000
4) lovesimi — $21,700
5) iamaction — $15,500
6) Londolozi — $9,300
