Full Tilt held its monthly $1,000,000 guaranteed on Sunday October 19th. 1,943 players entered the tournament, creating an overlay of $11,400 for the online poker home of players like David Benyamine, Patrik Antonius and Gus Hansen. Despite the low turnout, the talent was high.
The final table was chock-full of big names including DeuceBuster, Pippi78 and Yevgeniy “bballer88” Timoshenko. DeuceBuster is a fixture in online tournaments, making the fifth place in the Poker Stars Sunday Million just last weekend. Pippi78, a relative newcomer to the scene – at least using this name – had a good start, coming in tenth in the $750k here at Full Tilt last Sunday (October 12, 2008).
Of course, Yevgeniy "bballer88" Timoshenko may be better known to most for his live action achievements. The Ukrainian-born poker player won the APT Macau event in early September, earning half a million dollars. He defeated a tough table en route to the final table that included players from all over the world.
However, in the end it was just Leandro Brasa and Caio Cesar "I CaioPimenta I" Pimenta in heads-up play. Leandro Brasa is well-known for making the final table of Event #49 at the 2007 WSOP. Caio Pimenta, another of Brazil’s growing poker community of players, has been building quite a name and bankroll for himself online. So far he’s earned nearly $175,000.
Brasa won the last hand, the title and the additional $71,000 that went to the first place finisher.
