PokerStars WCOOP 2008 – Event #6 Results

Serena DaSilva - 12 Sep 2008

The $530 NLHE tournament, the sixth event at the 2008 Poker Stars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), became a two-day event this year because last year the tourney was a marathon at 20 hours. Whoa!

Actually, PokerStars made a good call. 7,351 players took part in the event, driving the $3 million guarantee up to a total of $3,675,500. After 22 levels and 11 hours of play, 72 players remained and play ended for the first day. The only Poker Stars pro who remained was Brazilian player Andre Akkari. He lasted well into Day Two, finishing in 47th position. The player who ousted him, cassie13, made it all the way to the final table.

cassie13 would eventually hit the rail in fifth position, earning more than $132k for her efforts. She was busted by Solovka. Solovka faced Calvin32 in heads-up play and carried the chip lead going in. However, after about 40 hands, Calvin32 had taken over the lead. Despite suggesting a deal on multiple occasions, Solovka wouldn’t cave in. In the end, Calvin32 won the event at around hand 200 in the heads-up match-up with a Qc, 9h in the hole.

These are the final results:

1) Calvin32 - $452,086.50
2) Solovka - $306,169.15
3) Roland_NL - $205,828
4) adonislee - $169,073
5) cassie13 - $132,318
6) DUBBZZ - $95,563
7) randomcrayon - $64,321.25
8) Yo Burger - $42,268.25
9) Papio Papio - $25,728.50
