Part of the problem with playing internet poker is the internet itself. How many times have you sat in on an event and been bumped out at the worst possible time? Server and connectivity problems can really put you on tilt, can’t they…or is it just us? Anyway, this weekend the biggest story in the online tournaments was the internet itself. Despite the frustration, however, some players were able to hang on and cruise to bigger paydays proving that one person’s connectivity problems can be another’s lucky break.
Regardless, the folks at PokerStars made their million dollar guarantee on Sunday rather easily. Over 6500 people – about 200 more than last weekend – paid to play in the tournament, driving up the prize pool to an impressive $1,304,800. Hevad “RaiNKhAN” Khan almost made the final table but bubbled out after a sick defeat in thirteenth place.
As the final table got underway, so too did the disconnects. Both kev_unlimit and weeminer had multiple connectivity problems. However, it was Ivey $00 who hit the rails first. Macknot, and Dabe8Gavis started having problems staying online. This caused a PokerStars manager to report that there were “global internet problems."
kev_unlimit and Cardinal7 bid the final table farewell in eighth and seventh place respectively. Dabe8Gavis exited in fourth position. weeminer and Macknot outlasted everyone despite their own internet issues. Macknot had the chip lead as heads-up play began. Play lasted just a few minutes as weeminer sang his swan song.
Here are the results:
1) Macknot — $187,630.24
2) weeminer — $97,729.52
3) Ghost4476 — $70,328.72
4) Dabe8Gavis — $54,801.60

7) Cardinal7 — $21,529.20
8) kev_unlimit — $13,048.00
9) Ivey $00 — $8,089.76
Full Tilt Poker hosted its monthly $1,000,000 Guarantee on Sunday. 2,152 paid the $500 entry, generating a $1.076 million prize pool. Like PokerStars, Full Tilt was chock-full of connectivity problems during the final table. tmfd001 had issues with it as did Kongsgaard, aka Soren Kongsgaard, a third place finisher at the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo last season.
GettingDaize hit the rails first, the death blow struck by Chris “BluffMagCV” Vaughan, an employee of the well-known industry publication, Bluff Magazine. BluffMagCV held pocket rockets to crippled Daize. After that, Daize ran into the pocket cowboys of tmfd001 and took $15,064 for his ninth place finish.
imgrinding, a previous winner of the $400k FTP Guarantee, was eliminated in eighth while Kongsgaard and BluffMagCV made it all the way to heads-up play where the pen proved mightier than the poker skill. Yup! Chris Vaughn, the employee of Bluff Magazine, won the big one.

A total prize pool of $306,800 was up for grabs, which paved the way for some deal-making and bickering at the final table. ihmepaisti refused to talk chop and took home only $8200 for his seventh-place finish.
After his departure, the remainder of the players agreed on a chop by chip count, effectively ending the event.
