On Monday, August 13, 2007, nearly 1300 people paid their $1,000 buy-ins to play in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) No-Limit Hold'em 6-Max $1,000,000 Guarantee. To clarify that means the event was No-Limit Texas Hold'em. The total amount of players at each table would be six instead of the usual ten - and there was a one million dollar guarantee on the event.
Now, when all was said and done, there was a total of $1,282,000 in the prize pool with more than $260,000 going to the event's winner. That's not bad for a Monday night's worth of work.
Several of Full Tilt's pros came out to play including David Benyamine's main squeeze - and rising poker star, Erica Schoenberg, who hosted the event. Honestly, With a prize pool that big, who could blame 'em? Clonie Gowen, Max Pescatori and JJ Liu all made bank in the tourney. JJ Liu, a runner-up to Ted Forrest in the 2007 WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star tourney finished the highest. Her tenth place result was good for $18,589.
Here's how the final table fared:
1) Round42 - $262,169.00
2) Reds20 - $173,070.00
3) Smokinokun - $121,790.00
4) Fixhult - $91,022.00
