CrazyZachary Wins the Main Event at Full Tilt

Ling Ma - 23 Aug 2007

On Sunday, August 19, Paul Wasicka, the runner up at the 2006 WSOP Main Event, hosted a $535 buy-in NLHE tournament. This was the Main Event of the FTOPS V. 4,578 folks paid to play in the tourney, driving up the $2,000,000 guarantee to more than decent $2,289,000. The FTOPS Main Event was hands-down the biggest event of the weekend. 648 folks made bank with a whopping $395,905 going to the winner.

Full Tilt pros Steve Brecher and Paul Sexton both finished in the money. Brecher hit the rails in 58th place, earning $4,120.20 while Sexton was the top dog with a 25th place finish. Sexton received $8,469.30 for his effort. Jon “PearlJammed” Turner made it deep in the event along with his galpal, Tracey “XTraCey” Nguyen. Nguyen finished fourteen spots ahead of beau in 22nd place. Combined, the couple earned about $17,000.

pokerskibum, who won a $100,000 Guarantee at Bodog and made a final table at a PokerStars Sunday Million event previously, was the biggest name left when the action got down to nine. He was second in chips going in.

chubbawubba called it an early night after pushing all-in preflop against the Q,10 of rppkoz, who hit top pair on fourth street. kiwid then found himself hooked by Clayton_27’s pocket jacks. His eighth place finish was good for $40,057.50 which isn’t bad for a $26 investment. That’s all he spent on the satellite to win his way into the Main Event.

rppkoz then took a ride on the termination train. He open pushed all-in preflop for his remaining 1.8 mil chips with pocket rockets. CrazyZachary called and showed ladies in the hole. The turn gave CrazyZachary a set and sent rppkoz careening into the virtual rail in a disappointing seventh place. Fifteen minutes later, MFjimmyLOWRY crushed jbaggs’ pocket jacks with his own pair of queens, and the action was down to five.

pokerskibum attempted a blind steal at the wrong time. His 10,8 was no good against Clayton_27’s A,10 in the hole. The miscalculation caused his elimination. MFjimmyLOWRY sang his swan song soon afterwards. He moved all-in against the aggressive CrazyZachary with an 8,9. Zach was packing big slick in the hole. When two cowboys landed on the flop, jimmy, who spent $4.40 in satellite cash to make the tournament, bid adieu to his table mates. His fourth place finish was good for over $121,000.

Although Clayton was in third place when three-handed play began, he’d survive to battle CrazyZachary in a heads-up matchup. chardrian, despite becoming the short stack, didn’t slow down his aggression. He went all-in before the flop with an A,9. Clayton called with an A,J. The board didn’t bring chardrian any help.

The elimination gave Clayton a minor chip lead over CrazyZachary. The two swapped chips for a bit. However, Clayton caught the wrong end of a coin flip with his pocket sevens and was down to just 4.4 million chips. A few hands later he pushed all-in with an A,9. CrazyZachary made the quick call and flipped over a pair of queens. The board didn’t help Clayton one bit.

Here are the final results:

1) CrazyZachary - $395,905.44
2) Clayton_27 - $240,345
3) chardrian - $155,652
