Kadabra Conjures Up a Win at Full Tilt

Ling Ma - 10 Aug 2007

The fifth installment of Full Tilt’s highly successful online poker series, aka the FTOPS, got underway Wednesday night with a $200 + $16 NLHE tourney hosted by Phil Gordon. 4,165 sat down to play, driving the guaranteed prize pool of $500,000 up to an impressive $833,000.

Married pros, Chip and Karina Jett both cashed in this event along with more than 580 other folks including Miami John Cernuto, Thomas Walroos and Paul Wolfe. Karina holds the distinction of being the highest-finisher among Full Tilt’s pros. aerospace22 was the first elimination of the final table. His K,J was dominated by the A,J of Kadabra.

Jeezy888 crushed THEnaturalACE’s hopes, pocket jacks and chip stack with ladies in the hole. The loss would be a major factor in THEnaturalACE’s seventh-place finish, which was good for more than $19,000.

The_Closer3, after knocking out THEnaturalACE with a full house, was also responsible for the elimination of Mattman14. His nut flush proved too strong for the Mattman’s Q,10 of diamonds. This brought the action down to three. However, it would be The_Closer who couldn’t, well, close the deal. He’d go next, leaving Jeezy888 and Kadabra to fight it out heads-up. Unfortunately for Jeezy that match-up lasted all of two hands. Kadabra made top pair on the flop on the final hand which was good enough for first place, the jersey and almost 150k.

Here are the final table standings:

1) Kadabra $147,099

2) Jeezy888 $89,047

3) The_Closer3 $58,310

4) Mattman14 $45,815

5) scarr09 $34,402

6) chipgoon $25,489

7) THEnaturalACE $19,159

8) FatMoneyBags $14,994

9) aerospace22 $11,162
