Event 4 at the FTOPS V was a $150,000 Guaranteed Pot Limit Omaha short-handed event. That means there were only six folks at each table. Over 620 peeps paid the $500 entry-fee to play, driving the prize pool up to more than twice the guarantee. The total cash available to be won was $311,000.

Host Robert Mizrachi, winner of the 2007 WSOP $10,000 PLO Championship (and The Grinder’s big brother), went deep in the event. He busted out in 36th place, earning over $1200 for the effort. Mizrachi’s finish was the highest-ever by a FTOPS host.

When the final table started, bmqball, the tournament’s eventual winner, held the top spot. He had such a comfortable lead that he sat back for the first half hour or so and let the shorter stacks fight amongst themselves. The railbirds called bmq every name in the book such as “wimp”, “sissy” and worse.

That got bmq in gear. Once the first break of the final table was over, all hell broke lose. No one’s chips were safe from bmq. He clipped off YoungSupremacy and his pocket aces with just a pair of jacks pre-flop which turned into a set post-flop.

Then, he took out Buckbuster316 after making two-pair against Buck’s cowboys in the hole. A few hands later, bmq struck again. The victim this time was Tutnik. His third-place finish netted him over $30,000.

By now, the railbirds were predicting bmq’s win. As heads-up play began, it sure looked good for him. serialkaller gave bmq a scare at the beginning of the match-up, winning some key hands and increasing his chip stack quite a bit. However, bmq sealed the deal with three wins in a row that brought kaller’s chips down to about 650k. Soon after, he made a full house to crush kaller’s set of kings.
